Feast of the Holy Innocents

Today is the Feast of the Holy Innocents, where we remember the babies killed by King Herod when he was trying to kill baby Jesus.

Let's remember to pray for the safety of all babies, born and unborn.

A partridge in a ... what?

Did you ever wonder what the song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas," is all about? The whole song is a secret code!

To find out the answer, read the story on page 8 of your Family Formation Christmas Activity Packet.

Don't Forget!

While you're busy with all the Christmas cookies, gifts, and decorations, don't forget to keep working on your memory verse for December as part of your Advent preparations!

For Grades K-1, the memory verse is:
"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord." Luke 1:46

This is the beginning of the Magnificat, the great prayer that Mary prayed when she visited Elizabeth. Look it up in your Bible and pray the whole prayer!

Grades 3-6 should memorize The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary:

1. The Annunciation
2. The Visitation
3. The Birth of Jesus (Nativity)
4. The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple
5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

The best way to learn these mysteries is to pray them! The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary are an especially good prayer to prepare your heart for Jesus' coming at Christmas. Try to meditate carefully on each mystery while you pray that decade of the Rosary.
