This Advent, our homily series, God with Us, invites us to rediscover the profound reality of Emmanuel—God dwelling among us. Advent is more than a time to prepare for Christmas; it’s an opportunity to reawaken our hope in salvation that has already come, is coming now, and will come in its future fullness. This is the paradox of Advent: the day of salvation is already here, but not quite yet. While we wait, God is with us.
Each week, Fr. Jim Livingston will help us reflect on how God is present to us:
In Promises: His covenant and Word anchor us in hope.
In Prayer: Our time with God draws us deeper into His presence.
In People: God works through others, revealing His love and care.
In Presence: Through the Eucharist and His Spirit, God is closer than we imagine.
Advent provides the space to celebrate and acknowledge how God is with us now, even as we prepare for His glorious coming. None of our beginnings happen apart from His presence. He goes before us, and He has plans for this Advent—this new beginning—too.
This season, we encourage you to pause, ponder, and pray. Set aside time during your week to light a candle, read Scripture, and reflect on how God is speaking to you.
Let’s prepare our hearts to receive Him anew, embracing the truth that God is with us—always.
