Adult Sacraments and Pastoral Care Coordinator
Reports to: Next Steps Director
Position Status: Full-time, 40-hour non-exempt, hourly position with benefits. Schedule to be determined. Flexible schedule with limited remote work
opportunities. Some weekends and evenings required (i.e. Sacramental
rites and other special events).
Position Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and organized leader to help create a caring atmosphere for those going through a time of difficulty or bereavement (funerals), as well as those taking their next steps in the Sacramental life of the Church (marriage, baptism, adult confirmation). This person will also encourage parishioners to take up leadership roles in pastoral ministry and adult sacramental preparation for the parish.
Responsibilities
• Provide pastoral support to grieving families including funeral planning (in collaboration with the Director of Liturgy and Music) and coordination of the Eternal Life Ministry and clergy.
• Recruit, organize, and train teams to provide formation for Sacramental Preparation (OCIA for ages 7+, Baptism, Marriage) and a welcoming experience for individuals, couples, and families from their first inquiry to the completion of their sacramental journey.
• Provide guidance and direction to Prayer Ministries (i.e. Spiritual Direction, Prayer Line, Prayer Teams, Eucharistic Adoration) and Pastoral Care Ministries (i.e. Divorce and Annulment, Addiction, Grief, Seniors, Bread of Life).
• Respond to requests from parishioners and non-parishioners for financial assistance or pastoral care and connect them to resources that can help them meet their needs. Includes administration of our parish financial assistance program.
• Be present frequently at weekend Masses and at significant parish events in an effort to know and be known by parishioners.
Qualifications
•Practicing Roman Catholic who desires to make Jesus known and loved.
•Bachelor’s degree or four plus years of relevant experience.
•Knowledge and passion for developing and refining systems and ministry teams.
•Proficient computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, G Suite, PDS, MSP, VSP).
•Must be flexible in order to accommodate a sometimes irregular work schedule.
•Must be Essential 3 compliant on first day of employment as required by Archdiocese.
